AbstractThe main objective of this work is to analyze the method proposed by Ichoku and Kaufman (2005) to obtain the smoke aerosol emission rates derived by fire radiative energy based smoke emission coefficient (Ce) with the smoke emission rates derived by the aerosol optical thickness. The images from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on Terra and Aqua platforms, Thematic Mapper (TM) on Landsat 5 satellite and CDD on China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) satellite were used in this study. The results demonstrate a good approach of the data gotten by the calculus of smoke aerosol emission and the esteem smoke aerosol emission by fire radiative energy based smoke emission coefficient gotten due 3.96ìm band 21 in MODIS. The greenhouse gases emission due to biomass burning were estimating in 9.1x10-7 kg/m2s of CO, 2.4x10-5 kg/m2s of CO2 and 7.1x10-8 kg/m2s of Particulate Matter (PM).
